Subject: Use of Unauthorized Versions of IATF Documents

Dear IAOB Certification Bodies,

The International Automotive Oversight Bureau (IAOB) is increasing their focus and effort to further strengthen the value and credibility of the IATF 16949 certification scheme.

The IAOB in recent months has become aware of clients purchasing and using unauthorized versions of IATF Documents including AIAG Core Tool Documents (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC), AIAG & VDA FMEA Handbook, IATF 16949 and IATF Rules for Achieving and Maintaining Certification (collectively referred to as “Copyrighted Materials”). The IAOB is an interested party per the clause 4.2 of ISO 9001:2015 and owns the right to protect, defend and enforce the copyright of the above-mentioned Copyrighted Materials through the relevant copyright owners’ authorization. IAOB requires that certified clients comply with the local copyright laws.

The IAOB is requesting that the Certification Body auditors, at the next and subsequent audits, verify the documents being used by the client comply with the applicable copyright notices. How to determine which documents are authorized is explained in the subsequent pages of this letter. (See below.)
IAOB 要求认证机构审核员在下一次及后续的审核中，验证客户使用的文件是否符合适用的版权声明。本函的随后几页将对如何确定哪些文件是获得授权的做出相关解释。（见下文）

If Certification Body auditors determine a lack of client compliance with the copyright notice, a minor nonconformance shall be written against the clause 4.2b of ISO 9001:2015. The client shall be informed of where authorized documents can be purchased.
如果认证机构审核员确定客户未遵守版权声明，应根据ISO 9001:2015 第 4.2b条写入一般不符合项。应告知客户可在哪里购买授权的文件。

The IAOB wants to ensure that all Certification Bodies do not violate copyright of the copyright materials and any IATF or AIAG document or infringe on trademarks of the IATF or AIAG. IAOB Witness Auditors will be reviewing this during Office Assessments and Witness Audits. Violations will be documented in the Audit Report. In addition, the IAOB reserves all and any rights and interests entitled under all related laws, regulations and statues, and may take all necessary legal measures and acts to protect its legitimate rights and interests against such violations and infringement.
